South Brooks Solar Farm
This website introduces our proposals for South Brooks Solar Farm, a proposed new solar farm with battery storage that would connect into the National Grid at Dungeness Substation.
A second phase of consultation on the proposals took place between 28 May – 16 July 2026. We are grateful for the feedback we received, which will inform the contents of the Development Consent Order Application we will be submit in 2027.
The news page of this website will be kept up to date with what you may see happening on site, and our communication channels remain open if you have any questions for the Project team.
What is South Brooks Solar Farm?
South Brooks is a proposed new solar farm with battery storage located near Lydd.
Connecting into the National Grid at Dungeness Substation, South Brooks would be capable of providing enough clean, secure electricity to power over 140,000 homes each year.
South Brooks is backed by PS Renewables and EDF power solutions UK – two experienced developers, builders and operators of solar farms in the UK.
The planning process
Because South Brooks would generate more than 100 megawatts of energy, it is classed as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP).
This means we need to apply for a type of planning consent called a Development Consent Order (DCO) to build and operate it.
DCO applications are decided by the relevant Secretary of State. This means that the DCO application for South Brooks will be decided by the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.
Public consultation
Two phases of consultation have helped shaped the plans for South Brooks. The first phase of consultation took place between 18 September and 30 October 2025, with a second phase taking place between 28 May – 16 July 2026. The feedback we received, along with environmental assessments and technical work, will inform the Development Consent Order application we will submit in 2027.
